High Energy Techniques
Karate is known for it's destructive power and blinding speed. Sometimes we sacrifice one for the other. By utilizing a unique double hip motion we can generate both speed and power in blocking, kicking and punching techniques. At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will understand the basic concepts of plyometrics and the application of this theory to their own fighting skills. Although it takes a lifetime of study within a short while one will feel the power being transmitted and the almost effortless technique of a karate master.
Throws for Karatekas
This seminar will concentrate on the theories as developed by Jigaro Kano and the application of these theories to karate sparring. This will be a low impact seminar stressing the proper application of body dynamics to maximize efficiency in techniques involving throws. Attendees will be exposed to kuzushi (off-balancing ) and how it relates to setting up an opponent for the throw. Seminar participants will come away with a better understanding of the nage waza (throwing arts) that can be used to increase their repertoire of effective techniques.
