Charlie Moore’s 29 year law enforcement career began in 1982 when he became a sworn police officer for the City of Glens Falls, NY Police Department. In 1986 he joined the Warren County, NY Sheriff’s Department as a patrol officer and assumed the duties of principal defensive tactics instructor and assistant firearms instructor for the department. In 1990 he accepted a position with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) where his most rewarding assignment was that of the lead combatives/defensive tactics instructor for the USMS National Training Academy. Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Mr. Moore was approached to become the Deputy Chief of Use of Force training for the newly formed Transportation Security Administration where he directed and designed training for the world’s first ever Federal Flight Deck Officers (armed pilots) training program. He also served as the (Acting) Chief of basic training for the federal air marshals service.
Mr. Moore is still an active, sworn member of the US federal law enforcement community and is assigned to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center located in Glynco, Georgia, as a senior level instructor. This facility is the largest of its kind in the world and serves over 80 US federal law enforcement, as well as many state, local and international agencies through its many programs.
He travels extensively conducting training for law enforcement personnel world-wide in the subject matter areas of law enforcement combative systems and tactics, defensive tactics, contact/control and arrest strategies, warrior mindset development methods and police confrontation management.
Mr. Moore is involved in numerous martial and combative arts. He holds rank in Relson Gracie Brazilian jiu jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Haidong Gumdo (korean sword), and also studies Russian martial art systems as well. He enjoys training and competing in Brazilian jiu jitsu, training in other martial and combative arts, Tac-Fit and most of all spending time with his wife and his family.
